Important Information
For safety reasons, a basic understanding of English is required, as all instructions are given in English.
Our snowmobile tours are shared: two adults ride together on each snowmobile, and drivers can switch at the halfway point. If you prefer to ride solo and drive your own snowmobile for the entire tour, please select the solo option when booking the activity.
Children under 15 will ride in a heated sled behind the guide’s snowmobile. A parent must always sit with an infant in the sled, and we recommend this for all small children as well. Please ensure all children are warmly dressed. For families with small children and infants, we recommend the Family Snowmobiling tour.
If a child over 140 cm wishes to sit in a snowmobile as a passenger, a full adult price will be charged. In this case, you need to book the child as an adult!
The snowmobile driver must be at least 18 years old and possess a driver’s license valid in Finland. The snowmobile driver is held liable for any damages caused to the vehicle.
Securing a self-liability waiver for your snowmobile before the safari minimizes potential self-liability costs to a maximum of 250€/person/snowmobile/accident, down from the standard 980€ in case of an accident. This waiver is individualized and applicable for a single snowmobile safari.
Special diet options (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.) are available upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions about Snowmobile Tours
Do I need to know English to join the tour?
Yes, a basic understanding of English is required for safety reasons, as instructions in all our activities are given in English.
Who can drive a snowmobile?
To operate a snowmobile, the driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license for Finland. For children interested in snowmobiling, we offer the “Family Snowmobiling” tour, featuring mini-snowmobiles with a weight limit of 50 kg.
Can a couple share a snowmobile?
Absolutely! You and your partner can share a snowmobile, and if both of you want to experience the thrill of driving, there’s an opportunity to switch drivers during our mid-journey stop.
Is solo snowmobiling possible?
Certainly! Generally, in our tours, two people share a snowmobile. However, for those who prefer exclusive use of the snowmobile for the entire tour, we offer the single driving supplement. By purchasing this in addition to the “adult on a shared snowmobile” price, you’ll have the snowmobile entirely to yourself!
Can I join the tour without riding a snowmobile?
Typically, the seats in the sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile are reserved for children and their parents. However, you may request a spot, and if space is available, we’ll do our best to accommodate you—except on the longer tours.
Can my child ride with me on the snowmobile?
If your child is over 140 cm in height, they can ride with you; however, in this case, they will be charged at the adult price.
Does Apukka Resort offer winter clothing for snowmobile tours?
We provide winter clothing for guests aged 2 and above, including thermal overalls, boots, woolen socks, mittens, and a balaclava. Guests should bring their own thermal underwear, a warm mid-layer (fleece or wool), and a hat and scarf.
What else should I know about snowmobile tours?
Both driving time and trail length may vary depending on the group and current weather or trail conditions. The details listed on the tour page are indicative and subject to change.
Is there an Aurora guarantee for the Night Snowmobile Safari?
No, we don’t offer an Aurora guarantee. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and their appearance can never be predicted with 100% certainty. All our Northern Lights tours are designed to be memorable experiences in their own right, not solely dependent on seeing the Auroras.
