Floating Sauna & Arctic Swimming

Sauna enthusiasts often claim that wood-heated saunas offer the ultimate experience. Test this theory by entering an authentic sauna, gently floating above a tranquil lake, and immerse yourself in the inviting heat. Your sauna host will guide you through the details, ensuring a fulfilling adventure, even if it’s your first experience with a Finnish sauna. Toss water onto the rocks, relishing the “löyly,” or steam, released by the stove. You decide how hot it’s going to be, and for a refreshing cool-down, take a dip in the adjacent lake. Say goodbye to stress and tension!

Frequently Asked Questions about Sauna Tours

As a new sauna user, what do I need to know?

Using the sauna is simple! Once inside, find a comfortable spot to sit or lay down. The temperature of the sauna depends on the amount of water thrown onto the stove. For a milder experience, you can opt for the lower bench where it’s cooler. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the heat for 10 to 15 minutes. After your sauna session, step outside and cool down for a few minutes. If you like, you can repeat the process, alternating between sauna sessions and cooling down. Remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before and after your sauna session!

Can I wear a swimsuit in the sauna?

Swimsuits are not permitted in the sauna. However, they are necessary if you want to use the jacuzzi or swim in Lake Olkkajärvi. You can enjoy the sauna either in the traditional Finnish style (completely nude) or by wearing a towel, whichever makes you feel more comfortable.

How does ice swimming work?

Ice swimming is only possible during a sauna tour, allowing our sauna host to guide you on how to enjoy the activity safely. Here are the basics: start by slowly descending the steps into the water, allowing your body to adjust to the temperature. Never jump into the freezing water! After your swim, take your time to warm up gradually in the sauna or with warm clothing to ensure your comfort.

Do your sauna tours include a towel?

Yes, one towel is provided for each person participating in the sauna tour. Please note that if you choose to wear your towel in the sauna, you will not receive a replacement towel.

Can I bring my own drinks into the sauna?

Each of our sauna tours includes a complimentary bottle of water to keep you hydrated during your experience. Additionally, you can purchase drinks from the Lobby Bar Riihi to enjoy in the sauna.

Are children allowed in the sauna?

Children are welcome in the sauna under adult supervision. To ensure their comfort, we recommend limiting the amount of water thrown onto the stove during the sauna session. Additionally, children may prefer to sit on the lower bench where it’s cooler.

Can I use the sauna if I have a medical condition?

If you have any underlying health conditions or disabilities, please inform us before booking a sauna tour. Pregnant women, individuals with heart conditions, or those prone to low or high blood pressure should use the sauna with caution.

Is it allowed to use a mobile phone in the sauna?

Please refrain from using mobile phones or other electronic devices in the sauna.
