A Variety of Snowmobile Tours
No two snowmobile tours at Apukka Resort are exactly alike. We offer a range of tours with different lengths, activities, and preferences in mind. Whether you’re traveling with kids or seeking an adventure tailored for adults, our tours are designed to deliver thrilling and memorable experiences.
Kid-Friendly Snowmobiling Adventures
Traveling with children? We’ve got you covered! Our kid-friendly tours ensure fun for the whole family. While parents drive the snowmobiles, kids ride comfortably in a heated sled towed by the guide’s snowmobile. Some tours even include special activities, like mini snowmobiles for children to try out or a visit to Santa Claus Village.

Snowmobile Tours That Adults Love
Looking for snowmobiling tours tailored for adults? Our “Adventurer’s Snowmobile Tour 4H” is our longest snowmobiling activity, covering 50–70 km of riding. The “Night Snowmobile Safari” is perfect for those who want to experience the sights of the Arctic night, including starry skies and, with some luck, the Northern Lights! To participate in these tours, you must be at least 15 years old.

Who Can Drive a Snowmobile?
In Finland, to drive a snowmobile during tours, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license. Generally, all driving licenses issued in states recognized by Finland are accepted, but for more information, we recommend clicking the link below. Each of Apukka’s snowmobiling tours includes a comprehensive driving and safety briefing to ensure everyone understands how to operate the snowmobile safely.
What’s the Deal with “Shared Snowmobiles”?
A shared snowmobile setup is a standard practice among many tour operators, including Apukka Resort, and is designed to enhance safety. Here’s how it works: you’ll share a snowmobile with another guest, typically a partner. During the tour, drivers will switch at a designated midpoint, giving each person a chance to drive and ride as a passenger. For those who prefer the independence of riding solo, you can opt for a single-driving supplement for an additional fee. This option is especially great for experienced snowmobilers.

When’s the Best Time of Year for Snowmobiling in Lapland?
Snowmobile tours at Apukka Resort kick off in November, thanks to routes created with stored snow. While natural snow isn’t guaranteed yet, more permanent snow cover typically arrives by December. January, February, and March are the peak winter months, each offering plenty of snow. January is the darkest month, ideal for night snowmobiling, while February brings gradually longer daylight hours that continue into March and beyond. Here, you can continue snowmobiling until the beginning of April!
What to Wear for a Snowmobile Tour
At Apukka, you’ll be provided with a helmet and winter gear for the tour, including thermal overalls, thermal boots, woolen socks, mittens, and a balaclava. However, it’s still important to wear warm clothing underneath, as layering is key to staying warm in Arctic conditions. We recommend warm underwear (merino wool is our favorite), a mid-layer of warm shirts, such as woolen pullovers, and snug trousers. Don’t forget a good scarf—often overlooked but essential for protecting yourself from the howling wind!

Do I Need Snowmobile Tour Insurance?
When you book a snowmobile tour with Apukka Resort, we highly recommend considering our waiver supplement. This affordable option significantly reduces your self-liability costs in case of an accident. Without the waiver, the standard self-liability cost is 980 €. However, with the waiver, this cost is reduced to a maximum of 250 € per person, per snowmobile, per accident. It's a small investment for peace of mind on your adventure.
