Frequently Asked Questions About Husky Tours
Can I book a husky tour as a first-time dog sled driver?
Certainly! On tours where you can lead the dog sled, our seasoned mushers offer comprehensive guidance. Please keep in mind that children are not permitted to be mushers.
Do I need to bring extra warm clothes?
For our dog sledding adventures, we offer top-notch winter gear for guests aged 2 years and older, including toasty boots, a snug thermal suit, mittens, and woolen socks. However, we recommend bringing your own thick winter hat, a cozy scarf, suitable thermal undergarments, and a comfortable mid-layer to ensure a warm and enjoyable experience on our tours. Winter clothing is provided during the early winter and winter seasons.
Are the huskies treated ethically?
Absolutely! At Apukka Resort, the welfare of our huskies comes first. They enjoy a spacious dog yard, are always close to a caring trainer, and even receive regular visits from a dog massage therapist to keep their muscles in top condition. Our trainers are happy to share more about their care during any husky tour.
All our husky activities are certified under Green Activities, the only Nordic sustainability certificate that includes strict criteria for animal welfare in tourism.
Be aware of suspiciously cheap husky tours—they reflect lower standards of animal care!
