Spend a day meeting huskies and reindeer and visiting Santa Claus Village. Dive into the old days of the gold rush in Lapland in Apukka’s special gold panning experience. There are not many who have tried this!
And don’t forget the biggest wonder of Arctic nature – the Northern Lights! You can hunt them around the Resort or from your Aurora accommodation every night.

DAY 1 – Arrival at Rovaniemi Lapland
Welcome to Lapland and Apukka Resort. Our driver will meet you at Rovaniemi Airport, and after a 10-minute drive, you will arrive at Apukka Resort in the middle of authentic Lappish nature. Then, it’s time to check in and settle down in your cozy accommodation. It is time to start your days exploring Lapland and nature in the Arctic.
DAYS 2-4 Active days in Apukka Resort
A daily buffet breakfast at our atmospheric Lappish restaurant Aitta is included.
Explore Lapland and hunt the Northern Lights. You can also catch the Northern lights straight from your bed in your Aurora accommodation. Your included activities will be distributed along with your stay, and you can book more tours at our reception if you wish.
Apukka Resort is truly in the middle of Lappish nature. During the autumn season (from September to mid-November), you have more time to explore Arctic forests and lakes, preparing for winter. The pace of life slows down after the vivid summer season. Here one never runs out of things to do. From dining in our beautiful Restaurant Aitta, to feeling the thrill of different adventures, we guarantee you won’t have a dull moment during your stay with us.
Tour 1: Meet Reindeer & Huskies and visit Santa Claus Village, 4hrs
Wish to meet Santa’s magical reindeer and fluffy huskies and visit Santa Claus Village? First, the reindeer herders tell you about the reindeer’s year, while you can feed them with their favourite snacks.
After beautiful moments with the reindeer, we take a walk through the forest. Our huskies are welcoming you with barks, howls, and wagging tales! You’ll hear about these super athletes of the animal world and their life in the Arctic. After all, you can sit by the fire to enjoy hot drinks and stories about living in Lapland.
Finish the day with a visit to Santa Claus Village, where you get the chance to meet Santa Claus himself. You will have time for some souvenir shopping and visiting Santa Claus Main Post Office, as well.
Trip 2: Apukka Gold Rush, 2hrs
Travel back in time to the days of traditional mining and try the simple yet rewarding technique of gold panning. Using a gold pan and some water, you can wash the gravel and look for gold!
During this tour, your guide will fully demonstrate the traditional mining method using authentic equipment.
As we learn about the history and legends of the Lapland Gold Rush and visit a gold prospector’s cabin, our guide will also teach you the proper technique of panning for gold.
Can you find your share of Lapland gold? All the gold you find is yours to keep as a memory in a tiny glass bottle.
Day 4 – Bye Bye Lapland!
After a delicious breakfast, it is time to say bye-bye to Lapland. Our driver will take you to the airport and wish you a pleasant journey home. Hope to see you again at Apukka Resort!
