The glass igloo experience changes beautifully throughout the year, and every season has something unique to offer.
Many visitors come to Lapland hoping to see the Northern Lights, and the good news is that the Auroras are visible not only in winter but also in autumn and spring. In fact, Aurora activity statistically peaks around the autumn and spring equinoxes, making these seasons some of the best times to witness this spectacular natural phenomenon.
August: The nights are still pleasantly bright, allowing you to enjoy long sunsets and the gentle transition from day to night from the comfort of your igloo. As the month progresses and darkness returns, the first Northern Lights of the season may also make an appearance.
Autumn: Darker nights transform the glass roof into a front-row seat for stargazing and Aurora watching. The surrounding forests glow with vibrant autumn colors during the day, while evenings invite you to unwind beneath a sky full of stars.
Winter: A snowy landscape surrounds the igloo, creating a peaceful atmosphere and reflecting enough natural light to keep the scenery beautifully illuminated. Long nights offer plenty of opportunities to admire the stars and, with a little luck, the Northern Lights—all without leaving your warm bed. At Apukka Resort, the heated glass panels help keep frost from blocking your view.
Late Winter (March–early April): Late winter combines snowy scenery with noticeably longer days. Enjoy bright, sparkling snow-covered landscapes during the day before settling into your igloo for another evening of stargazing or Aurora watching.
Yes—one of the biggest advantages of staying in a glass igloo is being able to admire the night sky from the comfort of your bed.
When the skies are clear, you can enjoy a spectacular view of countless stars overhead. During the Northern Lights season, you may also be lucky enough to witness the Auroras dancing across the sky without even stepping outside.
Of course, no accommodation can guarantee a Northern Lights sighting. Aurora visibility depends on several factors, including solar activity, cloud cover, and darkness.
At Apukka Resort, our glass igloos feature heated glass panels that help prevent frost from obscuring the view, allowing you to enjoy the sky in comfort throughout the winter months. And if the Northern Lights do appear, you can simply lie back and take in the show from the warmth of your igloo.
Absolutely. Glass igloos are designed for year-round comfort, even during the coldest days of the Arctic winter.
At Apukka Resort, all glass igloos are fully insulated and heated, maintaining a cosy indoor temperature of 21–22 °C regardless of the weather outside.
Whether it’s a crisp autumn evening or a frosty winter night with temperatures well below freezing, you’ll stay warm and cozy inside your igloo. So, while winter works its magic outside, you can simply relax under a warm blanket and enjoy one of Lapland’s most unforgettable views.
Yes. At Apukka Resort, our glass igloos are designed to offer excellent views of the surrounding nature and the night sky without compromising your privacy.
Every igloo is equipped with blackout curtains, allowing you to create a completely private space whenever you wish to relax or sleep in total darkness.
The design of our igloos also enhances privacy. The panoramic windows begin above ground level rather than extending all the way to the floor, and each igloo is positioned so that the glass faces away from neighboring cabins.
Yes. Every glass igloo at Apukka Resort includes a private bathroom with a shower, so you’ll have all the comforts of a modern hotel room while enjoying the unique experience of sleeping beneath a glass roof.
This isn’t always the case in Lapland. Some glass igloo accommodations offer shared bathroom facilities or separate service buildings, particularly in older or more compact igloo villages. If having your own bathroom is important to you, it’s worth checking what’s included before booking.
At Apukka Resort, your glass igloo is a complete accommodation, featuring a private bathroom, comfortable beds, climate control, and thoughtfully designed interiors. That means you can enjoy the beauty of the Arctic outdoors without compromises.
