Feedback from our guests
An Unforgettable Experience at Apukka Resort!
Apukka Resort is simply wonderful and exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. We traveled as a family to celebrate my birthday, and from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with so much warmth and care, especially by Otávio.
We stayed in the Family Aurora Cabin, which is beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly accommodates four people. Being surrounded by nature while enjoying the comfort and charm of the cabin made our stay truly special.
The breakfast is varied and delicious, and the restaurant also offers excellent options for both lunch and dinner. I especially recommend the salmon soup and the Black Angus — both were delicious!
The entire hotel team was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. Otávio, Vitória, and Carren were exceptionally thoughtful and made all the difference in making our birthday celebration even more special.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire Apukka Resort team, and especially to Otávio, Carren, and Vitória, for all their kindness and care. You made our days truly unforgettable!
We will definitely be back!...read more...read lessApukka TripAdvisorAna Sampaio01 elo 2026
Memory-making Visit to Lapland Our family of (kids aged 15, 14 & 12) had an amazing 2 days in Lapland at Apukka Resort. We very much recommend this resort and had a great bucket list adventure with our kids during spring break.
Accommodations:
We stayed in a family cabin that had plenty of room (queen bed & bench cubby behind sliding door), pull-out sofa, and king bed under the glass roof. The cabin had a kitchenette with table and 1 large bathroom. It also had a good sized mud room so you could keep boots and outwear out of the living space. Everything in the cabin felt new and comfortable and the best was we could see the northern lights while laying in bed. The family cabins are facing a stream or the lake and feel more secluded than the igloo suites. They are the furthest walk (7min) to the main building/dining/adventure starting points, but we liked the location the best. Recommend these cabins even if you aren't a family.
Adventures:
We did 4 excursions over two days and that felt leisurely and full at the same time.
We started with the husky adventure. It was supposed to be 7km but we were at the end of the season so had to reduce to 4km. The adults stood on the back and operated the "break" (stepping on a spike into the snow) and the kids rode on the sledges. It was a 2 hr experience and we probably were riding for about 30 minutes (would have been double with better snow). We were the only people signed up so it felt like a private experience and was very nice. After the ride we went into one of the teepee-style Lavvu for hot juice and to learn about the dogs from our guide. We then got to walk through the outdoor kennels to see the puppies.
Our second experience was our favorite- a 3 hr nighttime reindeer sleigh ride to see the Northern Lights. We had 2 sleighs - adults in one, kids in the other. The reindeer were sweet and the ride could only have been improved with a blanket for our legs. The Northern Lights were fantastic. We got out at one point and took pictures from a frozen lake. I understood that earlier in the season when the ice is thicker the ride goes out onto the lake which would have been amazing. The sleigh ride took about 1.5 hours. Afterward we went back to a Lavvu to learn about the reindeer, roast and eat a reindeer sausage, and drink hot juice. We also got to feed a reindeer before walking back about midnight. It was everyone's highlight and truly amazing!
The next adventure we booked was for snow mobiling & ice fishing. Because of the conditions, we snow mobiled for an hour and then walked back to the resort lake for ice fishing. If we had come earlier in the season we would have mobiled out to a more remote lake and then mobiled back in. The adults drove the snowmobiles which were large and easy to operate. The kids road behind. One of our sons road behind the guide. (There was tons of room and we didn't feel squished at all - everyone is 110-210lbs and 5'1-6'1) It was very fun! Ice fishing was interesting. We didn't catch anything but it was a good experience. We used a handheld auger to cut the holes. They provided small fishing rods. And they had a fire with hot chocolate, hot juice, & a pork/beef sausage to roast. There were reindeer hides to sit on.
Our final adventure was a 1.5 hr private sauna & ice plunge experience. There are 4-6 individual sauna houses next to the lake with deck path to the floating dock and stairs to enter the lake where they have cut away the ice. The 5 of us were about the maximum number people as you'd want to have in the sauna at once and be comfortable. We wore swimsuits and they provided robes, slippers and towels. They showed us how to use everything (wood and water for sauna). We started with a cold plunge, and it was a level of cold hard to put into words. About 2 seconds was all we lasted and then scurried to the sauna - which could get very hot. We had chairs outside to sit on, and we rotated in and out. The kids all iced plunged multiple times. It was a very nice relaxing experience.
Other:
Everyone working at the resort was friendly and accommodating. Their attitudes and helpfulness helped make the experience feel luxury.
The food looked good but did not taste great. The dinner buffet was 55 euros and ordering a la cart you'd spend about the same. We did both. Breakfast was included in the room price, and it was the best of the buffets. They made us a take-away breakfast box for our early morning flight out which was very nice.
The outdoor temperature was between 45 & 30 F. The snow overalls and boots provided were good quality and kept us warm. (We wore 2 layers underneath) The mittens weren't that warm so glad we brought good gloves. We brought our own warm socks. The equipment house was big and quick to get our items.
The whole resort was built in 2017 and has been well maintained. It felt newer than 9 yrs old.

Truly Amazing Experience We have just had the most wonderful 3 days at Apukka in a Aurora Queen Cabin. The accommodation spotlessly clean and beautifully set out. The Husky Adventure was definately the highlight of our time there with the instruction from the guide before the ride highly informative with safety high on her talk. The scenery was magical and was able to swap half way through. Also, being able to get some kisses and cuddles with the puppies just finished it off on a high. All staff we encountered over the 3 days were amazing and nothing was every too much trouble....read more...read lessApukka TripAdvisorkymacooper01 maalis 2026
